Elizabeth began to display an interest in music in junior school. At the age of nine, she performed Panis Angelicus at an event celebrating the centenary year of St. Catherine's Primary School. With piano lessons already underway, Elizabeth was encouraged to take up the bassoon. This provided her with the opportunity to perform with the district orchestra and the Strathclyde Schools orchestra which resulted in a successful tour of Bavaria in 1985.
In the same year, Elizabeth began a Bachelor of Music programme at The Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester where she studied voice and piano.
After graduating with honours in 1989, she began to establish herself as an instrumental teacher and quickly built up a successful teaching practice.
Aside from her guest appearances with the Caledonian Quartet, Elizabeth maintains a busy teaching schedule while continuing to perform at various events throughout Scotland.
Elizabeth currently plays an Adler bassoon.
